Welcome

Welcome to St Mark's Church of England Primary School

We hope that it will give you a flavour of all that goes to make up St Mark’s.  We have tried to show you as many aspects of school life as possible, but this, of course, is no substitute for visiting us in the flesh.  If you would like to see St Mark’s in action please contact the school secretary, Mrs Richardson, who will be delighted to arrange a time when I can show you around.

St Mark’s CE Primary School opened in 1849, and caters for boys and girls aged 4 to 11 years of age.  At present, there are approximately 104 children on roll, taught in four mixed-age classes. The school is situated in an idyllic rural setting, just tucked behind the village church. Children who attend our school not only live in Staplefield, but travel from Crawley, Haywards Heath, Cuckfield, Balcombe, Handcross and other outlying villages and towns.

At St Mark’s CE Primary School we aim to provide a Christian environment where everyone feels valued, respected and secure.  Our curriculum is rich, challenging and inclusive, and we aim to make learning lively, fun and active.  We find that children respond very positively to the school’s caring ethos and atmosphere and benefit from pursuing a modern education in the traditional setting of a village school.

It is important to us that we develop our links with our families and the community, and we hope that you will feel able to join us in these endeavours!
